Term 1 Highlights

Term 1 was very busy at St Peter Chanel. On the 5th of March the Year 5/6 children, their teacher Mr Burgess, a group of enthusiastic parents and I travelled to Bannockburn to spend a week at school camp. We had some fantastic experiences that included visits to the Lawrence and Arrowtown musuems to learn about life for the early goldminers, walks around early gold mining sites, an afternoon kayaking, a campout and confidence activities around the camp. We learnt a lot about relating to other people, taking responsibility for ourselves and our belongings and how we can contribute positively in group situations.

We were thrilled to welcome Ella Yates, a muralist, to our school in Term 1. Ella talked to the children about her work around the world and then began to create a mural featuring Nano Nagle for the entrance wall to our car park. Over three days she transformed this space into something wonderful, using three of our children as models.
